After receiving a cancer diagnosis, Abraham Hurt ’26 learned that asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a reminder of the strength that comes from leaning on others. With the support of family, friends, professors and donors, Hurt was able to pursue his dream of becoming a @tamucven engineer.

The grass really is greener at Kyle Field!

With 26 (A-WHOOP) days until Texas A&M Football kickoff, our turfgrass science students are dialing in on the details. Several of our #AGLSAggies work on and study the biology of Bermuda Latitude 36 and the USGA‑style sand profile underneath it to keep Kyle Field draining and performing all season.

Congratulations to Dr. Mark Burow, AgriLife Research peanut breeder, on being named a Fellow of the American Peanut Research and Education Society! 

Dr. Tianbao Yang is training an AI model to analyze patient data to diagnose Alzheimer’s disease and determine the disease’s progression. The model will also list its reasoning so that physicians can evaluate the diagnosis themselves.

Currently, physicians rely on a combination of imaging, exams and blood tests to diagnose Alzheimer’s, and symptoms often take years to surface. This model may enable earlier detection, which could improve patients’ quality of life and help physicians slow the disease’s progression.

Dr. N.K. Anand, Regents Professor in the J. Mike Walker '66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, and his wife, Dr. Veena Anand, retired pediatrician and retired clinical assistant professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, have established a fellowship for students pursuing graduate degrees in mechanical engineering.

The Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course was featured by the Houston Chronicle with four key takeaways from the event. Cattle ranchers from across the state were provided insight into beef prices, animal health, new technology and increased competition for land.

Congratulations to all 44 students who received their hard hats this summer! 

A six-year, $24.9 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) will establish the Autonomous Robotic Metallurgist Materials Innovation Platform (ARM-MIP) at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Kevin Washburn, a professor at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, explains how veterinarians work with producers to build feeding plans that support herd health throughout the year.

Artemis II’s safe return was a team effort on a massive scale — and three Aggie engineers were among the many who made it possible.

AgriLife Research was featured in Esri for its work at the AgriTech Innovation Hub at the McGregor Research Center, a 6,400-acre commercial-scale cattle operation where technology companies can come test cattle management tools against real ranch conditions. The goal is to give producers data-driven tools to improve efficiency and profit.

Congratulations to the newest graduates of the 44 Farms International Beef Cattle Academy!

Recognized during the Texas A&M Beef Cattle Short Course, these graduates completed an advanced program designed to strengthen their knowledge of the beef industry while connecting with a global network of industry professionals.

Carter Kuo ’23 never planned on starting a company while he was still a student with the Adam C. Sinn '00 Department of Finance at Mays Business School, but in 2022, that’s exactly what happened.

Alongside Jackson Sheen ’24, then a Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences student, Kuo co-founded hat company Concho, starting with A&M-licensed hats sold at local events around College Station. What began as a side project between classes has grown into a brand now licensed with more than 60 universities nationwide and new school partnerships launching every month.
