After successfully completing anchor testing today, TS Lone Star State is headed south toward its homeport in Galveston! Arriving on Tuesday, Sept. 8, the ship will begin transit of Bolivar Roads Channel at approximately 9 a.m. and arrive at the Galveston Campus at approximately 10 a.m. We’ve mapped out the best public viewing spots in Galveston for you and hope you’ll share your videos and photos with us as we celebrate this milestone.

This summer, Mason worked as a drilling intern for Oxy! 

"I spent the summer working in the Midland Basin Unit where I completed a case study evaluating the value of Oxy's first-ever Midland Basin U-turn wells could bring to the asset," Mason said. "This experience was especially meaningful because of the amount of time I spent on the rig. Being in the field gave me a strong operational foundation and directly supported the technical work behind my project."

Robert Chapkin, Ph.D., Allen Endowed Chair in Nutrition & Chronic Disease Prevention, Distinguished & Regents Professor, and Texas A&M AgriLife Institute for Advancing Health Through Agriculture member was awarded a grant through Arla Foods Ingredients to investigate the role of bovine milk osteopontin (bmOPN) on early life immune development and functionality. 

RWFM’s Ty Werdel, Ph.D., was recognized with the 2026 Rising Star in Wildlife Teaching Award from The Wildlife Society’s College and University Education Working Group.

The award recognizes an early-career faculty member who has demonstrated excellence in wildlife education through teaching, student advising, mentorship and educational leadership.

Aggie Action Spotlight: Deanna Crawford

As a nontraditional, first-generation student, Deanna is proving that it's never too late to chase your goals and embrace new opportunities.

This summer, Deanna participated in an international study experience in Da Nang, Vietnam, where she explored global event destinations, visited major tourism and convention sites, and gained a broader understanding of how culture, technology, and leadership shape the hospitality industry around the world. The experience expanded her perspective on leading in diverse environments and reinforced the importance of lifelong learning.

Knowing Jesus means knowing who God is, remembering what He has done, and finding our identity in Him.

Sebastian Munoz Burrafato has spent the summer as an intern in the aerospace laboratory at the University de Sao Paolo (USP) in Sao Carlos, designing and building a small scale controlled aircraft.
